Hull & East Riding Branch Social – Hull

Following on from a number of excellent get togethers in 2024, our first Branch Social of the year will take place on Saturday 22nd February 2025 from 13.00hrs. Starting at the George Hotel. The original George Hotel was built on Whitefriargate round the corner. At the rear of it was the courtyard accessed only through a gatehouse on the Land of Green Ginger. The original Whitefriargate building is now long-gone and what remains is the gatehouse that we know as The George Hotel.

From the outside, the tiny window looks like nothing but a slightly misplaced bit of brickwork or missing grout – many might not even notice when they walk past it. The building is one of the longest standing pubs in Hull sitting in the middle of Hull’s Old Town, dating nearly 340 years back to 1683.

From there we will venture further into the Old Town, visiting iconic pubs such as Ye Olde White Horse., which includes the famous Plotting Parlour.

Christmas Drinks in Beverley

As we missed out on a get together in November, and following tonight’s Branch Meeting, we have decided to get together between Christmas and New Year.

We aren’t going to stand on ceremony, just a get together for drinks. The pub is my local, its a no frills boozer! But, if you want to go for food, there’s several other pubs nearby that serve great local produce.

We’re looking to meet up at 13.00hrs on Saturday 28th December 2024. The pub doesn’t have a car park, but there are many parking bays on the surrounding street.

Both the Landlady Kelly and both myself and our Chairman, Andy, will look forward to seeing you all.
